Most levels are fairly one-dimensional as well through the story, adding one new gimmick per level and making those the emphasis rather than increasingly difficult platforming challenges. The auto-running limits your ability to control your character the fact that getting turned around and running into the left side of the screen can actually kill you because you can't stop or turn around just feels more insulting than difficult. This, on the other hand, decided to forgo good level design and precise controls for what feels more akin to a mobile game. What made the original Super Meat Boy fun was brutal difficulty with incredibly tight controls, such that you could really test the limits of your skills and ingenuity to overcome the challenges. I gave it a fair chance, played it for about four hours, went through most of the main story before deciding nope, that was enough. I went into this game knowing full well it was an auto-runner.
